Terms of Service
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. This website is not medical advice
Everything on this site is general educational information. It is not medical advice, it is not a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for evaluation by a qualified clinician who knows your situation.
Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read here.
3. No clinician–patient relationship
Using this website, submitting the waitlist form, or emailing us does not create a clinician–patient relationship. That relationship begins only when you have been formally accepted as a patient, completed intake documentation, and attended an initial evaluation.
4. Not for emergencies
This website cannot help in an emergency. We do not monitor form submissions or email continuously, and we have no after-hours or on-call service.
If you or someone else is in danger, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency department.
5. Communications are not secure
Email and web forms are not encrypted end to end and should not be treated as confidential. Do not send medical information, diagnoses, medication details, or other sensitive information through this website. Established patients communicate through a secure patient portal.
6. Licensure and geography
Clinical services are available only to patients physically located in states where the clinician holds an active license. At present that is Michigan. Viewing this website from elsewhere does not entitle you to receive care.
7. Fees and scheduling
Fees shown on this site are current as of the date posted and may change. The fees that apply to you are those given in your Good Faith Estimate and your financial agreement. Appointment, cancellation, and refill policies are described on the New Patients page and in your intake documents.
8. Intellectual property
All content on this site — text, artwork, illustrations, logos, and design — is owned by FirstLight Mental Health or used with permission, and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from it without written permission.
9. Third-party links
We link to outside resources for convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.
10. Accessibility
We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people using screen readers or other assistive technology. If you encounter a barrier, please tell us at hello@firstlightmentalhealth.com and we will work to fix it and to provide the information you need another way.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
This website is provided "as is." We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that the information on it is complete or current.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FirstLight Mental Health is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this website.
This section applies to your use of this website only. It does not limit, and cannot limit, our responsibility for professional clinical care. Liability arising from clinical services is governed by Michigan law and is not affected by anything in these terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict of law principles.
14. Changes
We may revise these terms. The current version will always be posted here with its effective date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
